For those of you who didn’t know, I can be a little weird about stuff. For example, I usually have a certain way I eat certain things. Like Cheetos, I always eat them from the smallest to the largest. Or how I pretty much try to save the “best” thing on my plate to eat last in every meal. Oh, and how I cut up my Eggo waffles nearly the same exact way every time I eat them. I mean, I could eat them in a different way. But why would I when my way is the best? Hehe.
With my recent candy purchase I’ve been afforded the chance to think about M&Ms too much. I remember someone asking a week or two ago about what M&M colors people eat last. And that very question has entered my mind ever time I open up a little snack sized bag of peanut M&Ms.
I have decided that my favorite individual colors are blue and green. And my least favorite are yellow and brown. With red right under the top two and orange right above the bottom two. So I usually eat them in order from least favorite to most favorite. But I always eat green ones last. Why would I do that, you ask? Because of a television commercial. Let it never be said that I am not a slave to the marketing. (Yes, I am aware that this is more of a character flaw than a positive attribute to brag about.)
I remember a commercial from when I was just a young lad. Two kids were sitting on the bench at their baseball game. One asked the other why he was so good. Well, the answer wasn’t the obvious “I’m a much better athelete than you are.” No, it was because of the kid’s addiction to M&Ms. By eating one of four colors meant he would get a certain hit his next time up to bat.
Brown = single
Yellow = double
Orange = triple
And of course…
Green = home run.
Ever since I was a kid I’ve always eaten my green M&Ms last. And I’ve probably never given away a green M&M while sharing with other people. I have a problem. That’s the first step, right? Admitting it?
I found a site that has a little commentary on this very commercial and even has the commercial available for download. I can’t vouch for the rest of the site, but his commercial commentary is pretty funny and spot on.
I have gotten a little away from my scripted M&M eating. What I like even more than eating certain colors is eating certain color combinations. The two combos I go for are red, green, and blue–my three favorite M&M colors and also the three colors that make up TV screens and computer monitors (yes, I’m a geek). And then yellow, orange, and brown–the color of Reese’s Pieces. Mmm, peanut buttery Reese’s Pieces.
That’s it for today’s scary look into the mind of Brenden.

Phew, for a second there I was afraid you were going to say that you eat green M&Ms last because of the commercials from a few years ago with the female green M&M.
And then I was going to have to be worried about you.
