I’ve had a few good days in a row here.
Last night I had two choices as to what I could do. The first choice involved heading to Lakeville with my bike to go on a long ride with Steve and a friend that would have been fun, refreshing, good for my fitness, but left me very sore for my 14 hour drive to Montana tomorrow. My second choice involved going out to dinner with two hot ladies.
Sorry Steve.
So I met my friend Erin at Espresso Royale in Dinkytown on campus at the U. We’ve managed to see each other maybe a couple times a year since we graduated from college. Though it’s been difficult as I’ve been in Bozeman and she’s been all over the place. We chatted for a bit while waiting for Chey to get there from St. Paul. She eventually showed up and we headed over to a Chinese restuarant called Shuang Cheng. I had never been there before. We ordered cream cheese wontons, sesame chicken, and a noodle dish with beef and vegetables and shared them between us. The wontons and chicken were excellent, while the noodles and beef were a little disappointing. But there was plenty of food and we were all full and satisfied after eating.
After dinner we all went on a walk through a bit of campus. We headed to Northrup Mall and then through the recently renovated Coffman Union, down to the Mississippi River, and then back to Dinkytown. A very nice night indeed.
The night before that, Monday, wasn’t too exciting except that I watched my second Robert Redford movie in as many nights. I watched The Natural, a baseball movie that I’ve alwasy really enjoyed. I’ve seen it at least a couple of times, but I think I had only seen the beginning once. So I knew how the movie ended up and all, but I could never really remember the beginning. So just my luck I see that it’s on and start watching it 40 minutes in to the movie. Oh well, I just kept watching and really enjoying it. But as my good luck would have it, they replayed the movie right away again after it finished. So I watched the first 40 minutes and was able to put together a whole viewing in one night.
The first Robert Redford film I had watched this week was Indecent Proposal on Sunday night. Chey came out to the house and after chatting with my parents for a while we sat down to watch a movie. Indecent Proposal happened to be on. Chey said she liked the movie and I had never seen it but always been a little curious as to how it went. I wouldn’t say it was all that great of a movie, but it got you thinking about love and money and what would go into a decision like the one in the movie. It was entertaining.
On Saturday I didn’t get to drool over Robert Redford, but it was a pretty good day anyway. It was Luke’s birthday and the family got together for a party at Chuck E. Cheese’s in Edina. We had pizza and Jenny baked a dinosaur cake and Luke got to open presents. He also played tons of those games where you can win tokens. Chey came along for the party too and she was Luke’s sugar momma. She and I took Luke up to play some games and she put a bunch of tokens in his front shirt pocket. After that he wasn’t interested in getting tokens from anyone, he wanted to use his “own” tokens, it was pretty funny. I don’t know how much the whole family ended up spending on those games but it was a significant amount. Matt ended up turning in our 500+ tickets for a noise maker and a slinky. Well worth it. After the party Chey and I hung out over in St. Paul at her place. She beat me at Battleship and I worked on her computer for a while. Much fun!
And before Saturday was Friday, which I know you all know about.

Well. Let me know when I can once again qualify for ‘hanging out with Brenden’ time.

Well, if you weren’t too cool and going to the Vikes next week we could hang out. But I’ll see if I can fit you in to my schedule here some time soon. ;)
