English vs English
Here in the United States we go to the doctor to get “shots”. I guess in the UK they go and get “jabs“.
“Annual flu jab” just sounds kind of funny to me. But I suppose that’s because I live in the Colonies. I find it facinating how languages can start out in the same place and diverge so much under different influences.

It gets worse, in Ayrshire it’s the “Annual Flu Jag”… as if you’re presented with a Jaguar car every year to avoid the flu. If only, eh?

What’s with you Scots? What with Ginger and Juice, and now “Jags” I’m beginning to think you speak a different language.
On a serious note though; it really is facinating how things like that can happen. Of course, being the huge nerd that I am I can tell you that JRR Tolkien had the same facination and that languages and their evolution and divergence were the main driving force behind the mythology behind the Lord of the Rings story.
