My grandpa had quadrudple bypass surgery yesterday. It really hasn’t even set in how serious of a surgery that is, even though it can probably be called routine these days. Clinton had one last year and of course it was newsworthy. But this one was a little more important to me. He’s doing great. He’s sitting up in bed today and eating and generally feeling fine. I guess he’s going to be moved out of the ICU later today or tomorrow.

I can’t imagine if it hadn’t gone well. Thank goodness these types of things are so commonplace. Do people even realize what an age of wonder we live in? People can be sedated and have their chest opened up with their heart exposed and then have arteries moved around to improve blood flow. It boggles the mind. I’m just happy he’s okay and he’ll be in less pain or danger than he was before.

Do you have a remote door locker/unlocker for your car? Does it have a panic button on it? Have you ever needed to use it for any legitimate reason?

I hate that stupid button. On numerous occasions I’ve had keys press that dang button when I’ve bent over or twisted in a certain way and all of a sudden had my alarm going off.

Just yesterday morning just before going to work I was reaching down to get my shoes when the button got pressed and my car’s horn started honking. That’s nice. It’s 7:15am and I’m sure my neighbor’s all appreciate it. What really gets me is how the signal is picked up so easily. I was a ceiling/floor and two walls away from my car. And there was no problem. Sometimes I have problems unlocking my car from a couple of feet away.

Do you remember when I was in downtown Minneapolis until 2am? I had just been dropped off at a parking lot by a beautiful young lass and when I got out and clicked on my remote to unlock the door…nothing happened. I was not happy. My car has a security system (though I haven’t actually tested it yet) that ensures that if you lock the car with the remote the engine can’t be started unless you also unlock the car with the remote. That means I use my remote every time I get out of and into my car. Well, imagine my fright when the dang car won’t unlock as I’m frantically pressing the unlock button from different angles and with different pressures.

After about six tries the doors did finally unlock and I was able to get in and drive home. Stupid remote.
